Kingfisher’s Group Poem – Sirens

Sirens – By the group, created while looking at Air fight over Portland by Richard Eurich.

We hated the sirens.
The doodle-bugs would scream and then…
Suddenly…
Stop…
Fear. Hide. Wait.
We looked at a picture and saw fighting in the sky.
It’s an air raid over the coast, Portland, we know the place.
The men are running…
Are they going to the church to be saved?
While they run, parachutists fall,
They fall slowly,
Slowly,
Slowly…
Towards the calm sea while the planes
dive
into
the
water.
The sea collects them all
But the sea is not angry.
It collects them all while looking the other way.
It reminds us of the sirens…
We hated the sirens.
